Some of the benefits of using our service include:
- All web-data extraction occurs concurrently within our scalable Mozenda Data-Center using multiple extraction servers over high-speed connections.
- Your data is securely stored in a managed data repository allowing you to access, review and download it from virtually anywhere at anytime using the Mozenda website, web-services or unique XML feeds.
- The extraction process can be completely anonymous and untraceable.
- Projects can be scheduled to run at specific times or intervals, ensuring that your data is always up-to-date.
- The 24-hour monitoring of Projects allows us to correct problems that may arise from changes to a targeted web-site's web-page format.
- We eliminate the need to purchase, install and be trained in specialized extraction software.
- We eliminate the need to hire specialized programmers to write custom scripts, and re-hire them when Internet sources change.
Extracted data is known as a
Project. You determine the frequency with which a project is updated. We can set up a customized project for you today.
Static Projects
Static Projects are composed of data that is gathered from the Internet on a one-time basis and usually consists of unchanging or non-dynamic data such as a dictionary or directory listing, scientific data or historical documents. If you only need to use our service to gather a specific set of information one time, then a Static Project is what you need.
Dynamic Projects
Dynamic Projects are composed of data that is gathered from the Internet at scheduled intervals and usually consists of data that changes over time, such as news articles, transportation schedules, financial and real estate information, weather forecasts etc. If you need to gather dynamic web-data on a scheduled basis, then you'll need a Dynamic Project.
Other types of Dynamic Projects include:
- Real-time Services
Mozenda Real-time Services are Dynamic Projects that can run and return data as formatted XML in real-time. Real-time Services can utilize input parameters if necessary. For example, you may want to gather flight information from several different airlines for flights from Seattle to San Francisco on a certain date. Real-time Services could be used to gather and return the immediate information contained on the source web-sites as a standard XML feed.
- Custom Integration and Mashups
Information extracted by Mozenda projects can be easily integrated into existing applications. Project results can be accessed programmatically via XML streams or web services. This makes Real-time access to the data as simple as possible. For those wishing to integrate data into applications using Microsoft's .NET framework, Mozenda also supports the ability to stream a serialized ADO.NET Dataset containing the projects data and data-relations. Project results can be exported from the Mozenda website in CSV and XML format as well.
Costs
There is no cost for an evaluation and review of the web-sites, fields to be extracted and work needed to be done to fulfill a project. Project costs are calculated based upon the following factors:
- Type of Project. Is this a Static (one-time) or Dynamic (occurs at intervals) Project?
- Scope of Project. How many web-pages are involved in the extraction? How many formats can the data be found in (data complexity)?
- Data-source volatility. How volatile is/are the website(s) that the data is being extracted from? (this applies to dynamic projects only)
- The frequency of the project. How often does the extraction run?
- Data Volume. How many pages are downloaded and how much data is stored on the server?
All projects involve a one-time creation fee with the first extraction included in that fee.
